From Parking Lot to Suburban Paradise
Sea of Asphalt: Warm and noxious Dark and strange Unused, unneeded, unwanted. At every pass by, this place, even ringed by trees, is a wasteland and an aversion
Time, work, and time pass. And this place is invaded, Transformed by nature and the hands that allowed it.
Here is texture, color, and light- not everywhere intense, but sometimes filtered. Here is relief- the land can rise and fall against this dark plane. This rise and fall creates spaces, some between, some within.
When entered by foot, the experience is best; And when entered by car, this must be abandoned without delay. It is evident what was has been, in sections, sliced away. Even from the building, a path has been carved.
Amidst the noble and gracious trees is laughing and delightful shrieking Playgrounds for the heart and mind and body of both young and old Art is in the nature, the people, the objects.
People walk through this place and engage with it. People own it. Word has traveled, and now friends walk together through it. Pleasure weaves between blades of grass and rests in the round rocks. Hope for other paved places lives in the plants and their leaves.
